About Hi, thanks so much for visiting the website! My name is Karen Dohman-Murdock and I am a proud U.S. Marine Mom and a 7-year Breast Cancer Survivor!
Since my mastectomy, my dream has been to help as many women with Breast Cancer as I possibly can. My son (Lance Corporal Chad Dohman, recently graduated from MCRD) was very, very disappointed that he was not able to support me by running in the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure in Houston, Texas in October as he always does. So, my challenge was to find a way for him to support me and the cause.
From this desire came the idea for Ooh-Rah-for-Tah-Tahs! A way to combine support for men and women with Breast Cancer and those in the U.S. Marines. With the generous support of my employer Napco Chemical Inc of Spring ,Texas Seventy Ooh-Rah for Tah-Tahs shirts were printed. We hand-carried these to the Marine base in TwentyNine Palms, California for the Marine Halloween fun-run.
Although Chad knew of what was happening with the shirts, he had no idea that we were going to be there at 6am on Halloween morning! It was priceless when he saw me!!
With the fantastic support of the Public Affairs Office at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, CA,who were so welcoming and supportive, we were able to distribute the shirts to the Marines. You might think that Marines would be reluctant to wear shirts with 'Ooh-Rah For Tah-Tahs' inscribed in pink on them but you couldn’t be more wrong! The shirts we had were all gone in minutes and there were many other Marines who did not manage to get one who wanted to buy one. We were amazed and overwhelmed. The response was so positive and so supportive that I knew that they needed to be available more widely!
In short, this is why the website was created to give others access to the shirts and other items so that the proceeds could benefit two really great causes.
I really hope you can help us support the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment and The American Cancer Society.
Thank you for reading my story. And please let your family and friends know about the website! Ooh-Rah!
